What Glass & Light actually is

This is the line I make myself. Faceted glass drops and pendants, cut with real facets so they throw light the way a cut gemstone does, built at my bench in Calgary from finished glass components. It is the collection that sells out at markets and gets overlooked online, because a photograph cannot do what these do when they move.

The colour is in the glass, not on it. It can't chip off, wear away or fade in the sun. What that buys you is a statement piece at a price that isn't a statement.

The shapes, and which one is you

• Pebble — small, rounded, the everyday one. Start here if you're not sure.
• Cleo and Athena — the long drops. Movement, and the pieces people ask about.
• Marquis — pointed at both ends, the most elongating on the ear.
• Aria and Selene — softer silhouettes, easier under a collar.
• Teardrop and Cushion — the classic cuts, and the ones that read most like fine jewellery.
• Plumeria, Webs We Weave, Ombré, Flower-Cap — the pieces with a bit more going on.

Choosing a colour

Jewel tones do the most work here — emerald, amethyst, aqua, red, and the deep black and dusk grey that go with anything you own. If you want one specific blue, Capri Blue gathers every piece in that shade in one place. If you want the necklace and earrings to match, that's Exquisite, and it's the easiest gift I sell.

What you're buying

Faceted glass in plated settings — gold or silver plate over a nickel-free base metal, not solid precious metal, and priced as what it is. Made by me, in Calgary, which is a claim I can make about this collection specifically and don't make about the rest of the shop.

Glass is hard but brittle: it will chip on a hard knock rather than scratch. The plating is the part that ages, and it ages faster with perfume, hairspray and sweat.
