Not inspired by. Actually worn.
Every screen piece here is the original design — the one I made, packed into a padded envelope, and sent off with no guarantee it would ever be used. Some of them turned up on network television. Most of the time I found out by watching at home, like everybody else.
Seven screen placements, fourteen magazines, eighteen years and three business names. No agency, no publicist, no stylist on retainer.
What was worn where
- The Vampire Diaries — Oct 24, 2013 · S5 E4, “For Whom the Bell Tolls” (The CW). Garnet Moon Necklace, worn by Nina Dobrev as Elena. My first.
- Bones — Nov 5, 2015 · S11 E6, “The Senator in the Street Sweeper” (FOX). “The Masks We Wear” tribal mask and smoky quartz necklace — that’s the piece’s name, not the episode — worn by Emily Deschanel as Dr. Temperance Brennan.
- Bones — Dec 10, 2015 · S11 E10, “The Doom in the Boom,” the two-hour fall finale (FOX). Green Agate Drop Earrings, worn by Emily Deschanel.
- The Vampire Diaries — Jan 29, 2016 · S7 E10, “Hell Is Other People” (The CW). Lilly Green Agate Necklace, worn by Annie Wersching as Lily Salvatore — named for the character who wore it.
- Baby Daddy — May 8, 2017 · S6 E9. Good Luck Crystal Horseshoe Necklace, worn by Rachna Khatau as Sondra.
- Wu Assassins (Netflix) — August 2019 · Season 1. Sixteen designs sent, six spotted on screen, worn by Li Jun Li as Jenny — the Zen Drops, the Third Eye Pavé Necklace and the Dusk Cleo drops among them.
- The $100,000 Pyramid — year unconfirmed. A Crystal Tree of Life Necklace on a contestant. I’m still hunting that clip.
The ones that made it into print
The Celebrity Page Aria Earrings in amethyst (Holiday Gift Guide, December 2016), the Boca Life Amethyst Mudra Bracelet (Summer 2015), and the Crystal Tree of Life in Ottawa Life Magazine’s Editors’ Best Picks (September 2016).
The gift lounge, said plainly
The Elegant Pebble drops are here for a different reason. They went into the GBK Golden Globes Gift Lounge bags in January 2014. That’s a gift bag, not a red carpet, and I’d rather say so than let you assume otherwise. “As seen at the Golden Globes” gets used for everything from a nominee wearing a piece on camera to a box handed over in a hotel suite two days earlier. Ours was the box.
What “original” means here
These aren’t replicas or reissues. They’re the same design, made the same way, in the same colourways. The Garnet Moon is still garnet on a fair-trade cast moon. The mask necklaces use hand-carved Ghanaian masks, so no two are identical — true of the screen one too. Where a piece is genuinely the last of its stock, the listing says so rather than manufacturing urgency.
Several of the screen pieces come from the Glass & Light line, assembled at my bench in Calgary. Each product page says how its piece was made.
Why this collection exists
Partly because it’s a good story. Mostly because it proves something harder to show: these designs read well on camera, at distance, under unflattering light. A piece that survives a television lighting rig will survive a Tuesday.
The full account — dates, episodes, gift bags, and the parts nobody puts in a press release — is in As Seen On: The Real Story.

Questions I get asked
Are these the actual pieces that were on screen?
They’re the same design, made the same way, in the same colourways as the pieces that were sent. Not replicas made afterward, and not the single physical item that appeared on camera.
Did the actors really wear them, or were they just gifted?
Both, depending on the piece. The Bones, Vampire Diaries, Baby Daddy and Wu Assassins pieces were worn on screen by those actors in those episodes. The Elegant Pebble drops were gift lounge pieces handed to attendees — whether anyone wore theirs afterward is anyone’s guess.
How does a jewelry business in Calgary get on television?
Three routes. Artisan collectives like The Artisan Group, where you pay to pitch and then compete against hundreds of designs. Paid gifting suites during awards season. And direct contact — mostly silence, until it isn’t. Wu Assassins came to me.
Is any piece on two different shows?
The Lily Green Agate set. The earrings on FOX’s Bones, the necklace on The CW’s Vampire Diaries, seven weeks apart in the same season. Sold together, credited separately.
Why are some placements under a different name?
I designed as Jewelry by Andrea, then Andrea Kelly Designs, and now Mystic Soul Jewelry. Same bench, same hands. Last name change I’ll ever make.
Is stock limited?
On some pieces, genuinely yes — and those listings say “final stock” rather than implying scarcity everywhere.
