One anchor — a dark grounding stone. Black tourmaline, hematite, smoky quartz, obsidian. This is the one holding the stack down, visually and otherwise.
One intention — the stone you actually came for. Amethyst for calm, carnelian for courage, rose quartz for softening, citrine for momentum.
One neutral — clear quartz, howlite, moonstone. It breaks up the colour and it amplifies whatever it's next to.

Bead size matters more than people expect. Mixing 6mm and 10mm reads as deliberate; mixing 8mm and 10mm reads as a mistake. Either match them or make the difference obvious.
