What the dragonfly stands for

A dragonfly spends most of its life as a nymph underwater — up to several years — before climbing out, splitting its skin and flying. The adult phase, the one everybody recognises, is the short part.

Dragonfly wings are iridescent: the colour comes from structure rather than pigment, so it shifts depending on where you're standing.
