Choosing a crystal necklace
Most people arrive here one of three ways: they know the stone, they know the symbol, or they know the feeling and nothing else. All three work. If it's the stone, shop by stone. If it's the symbol — hamsa, evil eye, tree of life, third eye — that's spiritual symbols. If it's the feeling, keep reading.
Pendant, beaded or medallion
Pendant necklaces put one stone on a chain and let it do the talking. A teardrop or bezel-set stone sits at the collarbone and reads as jewellery first, intention second — the version most people wear to work. Amethyst, labradorite, lapis, citrine, moonstone.
Beaded necklaces give you the stone the whole way round rather than in one spot. More colour, more presence, and the stone is touching more of you if that matters to you. Amazonite, aventurine, chakra multi-stone strands.
Medallions and charms carry a symbol rather than a stone — angel numbers, sun and moon, zodiac constellations, sacred geometry. These are the ones that get asked about.
Chain length, plainly
16 inches sits at the base of the throat. 18 inches — the most common — lands just below the collarbone and works over almost every neckline. 20 to 24 inches drops toward the sternum and is the length to pick if you layer, because it clears a shorter chain without tangling. If you're buying a gift and don't know, 18 is the safe answer.
Layering two: leave at least two inches between them. Three: 16, 18 and 22.
Metals, and which one to pick
Sterling silver is cool-toned and suits blue, grey and clear stones — labradorite, moonstone, lapis, kyanite. Gold plate runs warm and pulls the best out of amber, citrine, tiger's eye and anything with gold flecking. Waterproof PVD stainless steel is the one you don't have to think about: it doesn't tarnish, it survives showers and swimming, and it's the sensible pick for a necklace that never comes off.
Mixing metals is fine. It has been fine for years. Wear what you like.
Buying it as a gift
Necklaces are the easiest piece to gift because there's no size to guess. Birthstone is the safest personal choice — shop by birth month and you're done. Beyond that: a memorial or keepsake piece for grief, a protection symbol for someone having a hard year, a moon or celestial charm for the night-sky inclined.
Looking after it
Necklaces take more abuse than any other piece — perfume, sunscreen, hair products, sleeping in them. Last thing on, first thing off. Store flat or hanging rather than in a heap, because chains tangle out of spite. The jewelry cleaning guide covers metal and plated settings; the crystal care guide covers the stones.
Questions people actually ask
What length necklace should I buy?
18 inches if you're unsure — it clears most necklines and suits most heights. 16 for a choker fit at the throat, 20 to 24 if you layer or want the pendant lower on the chest.
Are the stones genuine?
Where a stone is genuine, the listing says so. Where it's lab-created, hydro quartz or glass, the listing says that too, in the same place, in the same size type. You should never have to guess what's sitting on your skin.
Will it turn my neck green?
Sterling silver and PVD stainless steel won't. Gold-plated pieces can eventually, if the plating wears through — which happens faster with perfume, sweat and swimming. Take plated pieces off before the pool and they'll last years.
Can I shower or swim in it?
Waterproof stainless steel, yes. Sterling silver, technically yes but it'll dull. Plated settings and porous stones — turquoise, labradorite, opal, malachite — no. Take those off.
Which necklace suits my chakra?
Root is red and black, sacral orange, solar plexus yellow, heart green and pink, throat blue, third eye indigo, crown violet and clear. Or skip the theory and shop the chakra collection by the one you feel pulled to.
Do you ship to the US?
Yes. Prices are in Canadian dollars, which usually works in your favour at checkout.
