Sagittarius season shows up in the exact five weeks you have the least room for it. That's not a scheduling error.
The sun moves into Sagittarius around November 21 and stays until the winter solstice — the sign of the traveller, the horizon, the woman who says the honest thing at the dinner table and then wonders on the drive home whether she should have. It lands squarely on top of four weekends of obligation, a list, and a calendar that has opinions about your December. Expansion is the season's assignment, handed to you at the worst possible moment, which is how the good ones usually arrive.
What Sagittarius season is asking of you
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, and Jupiter's whole personality is more. More room, more truth, more horizon. It's the archer aiming at something a long way off, which is a funny thing to be handed in the week you start wrapping presents.
So I don't read Sagittarius season as “book the trip.” I read it as: where have you gotten small without deciding to? Where did the horizon quietly move closer? Sometimes the answer is travel. More often it's a conversation you've been managing instead of having, or a version of yourself you shelved in 2019 because there wasn't time.
And it isn't only for Sagittarius women. Everybody gets this season. If you've got a Sagittarius in your life you already know the type — the one who books things, says the unvarnished thing, and has never once pretended to like something to keep the peace. For five weeks a year the rest of us get handed a small dose of that, whether we asked for it or not.
What I notice at my bench is that the women who feel it hardest are the ones running the most. The December logistics department. The one who knows everybody's dietary restrictions and nobody knows hers. Sagittarius season doesn't care that you're busy. It just quietly asks, in the middle of the busiest thing, whether this is the shape you wanted.
Here's what I'd wear through it. Four stones, and I'll tell you why each one earns the spot.
Lapis lazuli — the honest one
Sagittarius is famously blunt. Lapis is the stone I'd pair with that, and not because it makes you louder.
Lapis is a throat and third-eye stone in the traditional associations — clear speech, honest counsel, saying the true thing without decorating it first. The Sagittarius version of honesty can come out sideways when it's been sat on too long. It arrives as a joke that isn't one, or as a sentence delivered with more velocity than it needed. Lapis is the version where you know what you think before you open your mouth, which is a different skill entirely and a much rarer one.
The deep blue with gold flecks is also the most December-looking stone I carry. It goes with black, it goes with velvet, and it does not look like a crystal to anyone at the table who isn't looking for one. That last part matters more than people admit. A lot of the women I meet want the meaning without the announcement — something that reads as jewellery to their brother-in-law and as a reminder to them.
The lapis drop earrings are the easy way in. The rest is in the lapis lazuli collection.
Sodalite — the quieter blue
Sodalite gets treated as lapis's understudy and I think that's backwards. They do different jobs.
Lapis is for the saying. Sodalite is for the sorting — the part where you figure out which of the eleven things you're carrying is the actual thing. It's a thinking stone, associated with logic and mental clarity rather than expression, and if you're the person who processes by writing it down before you say it out loud, this one's built for how your brain already works.
It's also the softer visual. Mottled navy and white, less formal than lapis, easy to wear on a Tuesday when nothing is happening except your entire internal weather.
I put sodalite in a lot of stacks for exactly that reason. It doesn't need an outfit. It sits under a sweater cuff and gets on with it, which is a compliment where I'm from. The sodalite stretch bracelet is the one I'd start with.
Citrine — the light you're supposed to be losing
Two blues and then this. Deliberate.
Sagittarius season runs into the darkest weeks of the year, and citrine is the stone I reach for when the light is going and I'm not entirely graceful about it. It's associated with the solar plexus — confidence, warmth, the part of you that decides things — and it's warm gold at a point in the calendar when everything outside is the colour of wet pavement.
It's also November's birthstone, so if you've got a Sagittarius in your life with a late-November birthday, you've got a gift with two reasons behind it instead of one. Which is my favourite kind — the ones where the person opening it can tell you thought about them specifically, not about the category of person they belong to.
Worth knowing: most citrine on the market is heat-treated amethyst, which is why so much of it is that deep burnt orange. Natural citrine runs paler, more champagne than amber. Neither is fake. They're just different processes, and the paler one tends to wear better with everything else in your jewellery box.
The faceted citrine bracelet is the everyday one; the rest of the warm stones live in solar plexus chakra jewelry.
Turquoise — the traveller's stone
If Sagittarius has a signature stone, it's this one. Turquoise has been the protection piece for people going somewhere for about as long as people have been going anywhere — tucked into saddlebags, set into rings worn on the road, given to someone before a journey with the understanding that it came back when they did.
It holds both halves of the assignment. It's the going-somewhere stone, but it's also a steadying one. Blue-green, opaque, warm in the hand. It doesn't feel like a stone that's daring you. It feels like one that's coming with you.
An honest stock note: turquoise is the stone I have least of this season. A few pieces are coming, and when they're gone, that's it until spring. If you miss them, lapis does the travelling job almost as well, and it's the one I'd hand you instead.
A note on the stone itself, since I get asked: real turquoise is porous and soft, and it does not want your hand cream, your hairspray, or a swim. It'll shift colour over years of being worn, which some people find alarming and I find lovely — it's one of the few stones that visibly keeps a record of you. Wipe it with a dry cloth and put it on last.
Turquoise sits with the other December stones in December birthstone jewelry.

How I'd wear these
Nobody needs four new pieces. Here's the honest version.
If you're picking one: lapis. It's the honest stone for the bluntest sign, it reads as jewellery rather than crystal to anyone who's uninterested, and it goes with everything you'll wear between now and New Year's.
If you're stacking: a blue on the wrist and citrine at the ear. The blues carry the thinking, the gold carries the warmth, and they don't compete for attention. A stacked wrist with two blues and one neutral is about as Sagittarius as it gets — a little bit of everywhere, all at once.
If you're buying for a Sagittarius: go lapis or citrine (turquoise, if you catch one), and go with something she can wear every day rather than something she has to occasion her way into. Sagittarius women are, in my long and unscientific market-table experience, not big on saving things for good.
The Sagittarius trap (and how to not fall in it)
Every year I watch some version of this happen, usually to somebody I like.
Jupiter energy makes everything feel possible, which is wonderful right up until it turns into eleven new commitments made in a good mood in late November that all come due in March. Sagittarius season is very good at “yes.” It's much worse at “when, specifically, and at whose expense.”
So the discipline of this season isn't dreaming bigger. You're already doing that — it's the time of year for it. The discipline is picking one. One horizon, not six. The blues are useful here for the same reason a good friend is: they slow the sentence down long enough for you to hear whether you mean it.
And if you get to the solstice having chosen nothing, that's fine too. Some years the honest answer is not yet, and Sagittarius respects an honest answer more than an ambitious one.
A small ritual, if you want one
This is the one I do, and it takes four minutes.
Sometime in the first week of the season, write down the thing you'd do if the year had another eight months in it. Not a resolution. Not a goal with a date attached. Just the sentence — the trip, the course, the conversation, the move, the whatever-it-is that lives at the back of your head and only comes out on the drive home.
Put whichever stone you're wearing on top of the paper overnight. In the morning, read it once and put the paper somewhere you'll find it in March.
The stone isn't doing anything. You are. But there's something about writing the sentence down while a stone sits on it that makes it harder to pretend, in February, that you never thought of it. Call it a note to yourself with a witness.
If your stones have been on you all autumn and could use a reset before the solstice, here's how I cleanse mine — moonlight, smoke, sound, and which stones don't want to go near water.
What comes after
Sagittarius hands off to Capricorn at the solstice, and the energy changes completely — from horizon to foundation, from “where could I go” to “what am I building.” Sagittarius season is the wide breath before that. Which is exactly why I don't think you should skip it, even in the busiest five weeks of your year.
Especially then. The women I meet who are running the whole holiday for everybody else are the ones who most need a stone that reminds them the horizon is still there.
